Club-73 win Goutam Memorial all-India tournament

Yazdani Club-73 (Bhubaneswar) emerged champions in the 7th All-India Goutam Memorial Knock-out Football Tournament, defeating Garolia Football Club (Kolkata) by 2-1 goals in the final at Manmohan School ground in Jharsuguda today. Kishore Khadia played instrumental role in the title triumph, scoring a brace. He first struck in 18th minute as Club-73 led 1-0 at the half-way stage.

Dominating the proceeding in the second half, the Bhubaneswar team made the score-line 2-0 in their favour with Khadia completing his double in the 63rd minute. Sajal Das scored consolation goal for Garolia FC towards the fag end of the match. This was Club-73`s second title triumph in a week, the first one coming in the 9th All-India Biju Patnaik Memorial Football Tournament at Ispat Stadium in Rourkela.

Former Assembly Speaker Kishore Kumar Mohanty gave away the trophy at the closing function. Champions Club-73 received a cash prize of Rs 33,333, while runners-up Garolia FC took home Rs 22,222. Jharsuguda Collector B P Sahoo, Odiya stars Devyani and Smita were present on the occasion.
Altogether eight teams participated in the tournament, which was organized by Jharsuguda Athletic Association.
